BAE Systems, Advanced Technologies group (AT), is looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to perform professional technical assignments which require a wide application of established principles and concepts of non linear optical engineering. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of professional technical assignments requiring the full use and wide application of established principles, theories and practical concepts of laser engineering. Demonstrates proficiency in one or more specialties such as laser physics, biomedical engineering, nonlinear optics, and non linear optical polymers. 2. Devises new techniques and approaches and provides solutions to a wide range of technical problems. Makes independent decisions based on available data. 3. Works from technical objectives, overall schedules and expected results as specified by supervisor or senior technical personnel. May lead segments of projects responsible for technical, schedule and fiscal performance objectives. 4. Assignments are broad and may include development of new techniques of physics as a result of independent research study, development and evaluation of plans and procedures, theoretical computations and analysis, research into physical phenomena, materials and devices, experimentation with laboratory equipment. 5. Coordinates and directs the work efforts of lower level engineers and physicists and support personnel if assigned. 6. Coordinates the preparation of charts, diagrams and reports expressing recommendations, technical accomplishments, progress, and project status measured against specific plans. 7. Attends conferences and meetings to monitor current work and represent assigned activity. 8. Maintains knowledge in area of specialization and is cognizant of developments in other related fields. 9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Must have the following:

Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering from an accredited college or university or its equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years work experience; or a Master's Degree and three (3) years experience; or in an entry level position with a Ph.D. in Optical Engineering; or a related scientific field. Experience applying established principles and concepts of non linear optical engineering.

Preferences

Post-doc experience in optical engineering or related field.
