We are seeking a bioinformatics engineer to work on upgrading and maintaining our human-scale analysis software on the next-generation DNA sequencing platform SOLiD. The purpose of this position is to fill the transition between developing algorithms and distributing them to the community by testing the software on clean environments and under multiple conditions, determining the software dependencies, modifying the scripts to work with various queuing systems, building in any necessary error checking that may be missing, identifying places to take further advantage of parallel processing, finalizing the documentation, and packaging and releasing the software to the community. The position will also provide informatics support for the constant flow of data being produced on the SOLiD instruments.

1 - Excellent Perl skills 2 - Good knowledge of unix operating systems and queuing systems (PBS, LSF, SGE) 3 - C/C++/Java a significant advantage 4 - Excellent communication and writing skills and ability to work with a wide range of scientists, engineers and system administrators 5 - Demonstrated interest in biology / bioinformatics a plus BA/MA in computer science, software engineering or related field.
