SCOPE OF POSITION:

 

The Senior Director, Operations will have overall responsibility for the performance, growth and success of Universal Lighting’s business in Mexico. While having responsibility for the overall performance of the business, it is expected that the Senior Director, Operations will be particularly focused on building and developing the management team, lead and direct safety, environmental and employee health initiatives, lead and direct quality and reliability efforts and develop and internally implement profit improvement strategies.  This position requires well-developed relationship building and communication skills, ability to recruit, retain and develop exceptional talent and ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with all customers.

The Senior Director, Operations will work to develop and foster a high-engagement, team-oriented, spirited culture, mirroring and modeling the environment of the parent company. Acting as a mentor, and leading by example sets high standards for staff achievement and accomplishment with hands on orientation. A polished communicator, with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability of building positive and effective relationships, both inside and outside the organization. A strong conceptual thinker with technical abilities, who can recognize opportunities, identifying risks and considering multiple business factors when evaluating the merits of business strategies.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Oversees all aspects of Universal’s Mexican operations to include, safety, environmental and employee health, quality and reliability programs, cost reductions initiatives, manage new product implementation plans and drive operations excellence in all areas.Leads and directs the operation’s financial analysis, including budgeting and forecasting: monthly, quarterly and annualDirects financial analysis to develop, implement or monitor growth cost initiatives as well as provide leadership for key manufacturing tactical and strategic initiativesDevelops tracks and manages the organization to a strict set of metrics aligned with the overall corporate and account strategy.Maintains and constantly improves the organization's competitive position.Directs the establishment of methods, process and systems to audit and standardize manufacturing methods for the entire operations.Develops staff in creating an organizational culture that is cooperative, competent, flexible and open to change.Directs, develops, and implements cost conscience systems and processes and ensures adherence to budgets, capital expenditures and minimizes cost liabilitiesDirects, leads and implements continuous improvement processes in manufacturing, waste reduction, productivity and cost managementAssess and develop technical managerial talent; hire the best and develop high expectations

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; MBA preferred10 years of Mexican/U.S manufacturing experience in a high volume electronic based operations.Bi-Cultural, Bi-Lingual preferred, but at a minimum, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate sufficient to produce results.Strong combination of strategic thinking and tactical implementation skills; must be a leader and strong motivator of people, and be willing to function as a team player with strong experience in dealing with senior leaders in a global settingMust be experienced in directing and implementing lean, six sigma, advance manufacturing  and quality and reliability processes
