Dole Fresh Vegetables, based in Monterey, California, is the nation's leading producer of packaged salads as well as a major grower and harvester of vegetable commodity products. This fast-paced position will develop category management and trade promotion strategy and programs that achieve and exceed volume, revenue, profitability and market share goals.Manage Supervalu and Kroger HQ and Divisions, also manage and mentor direct reports. Analyze category and brand trends and provide recommendations/strategies for trade promotional support, pricing, shelving/merchandising guidelines, etc. for accounts. Develop compelling, cutting edge selling stories that highlight key points of difference between Dole and its competitors. Prepare business reviews and new account presentations. Prepare and publish reports and scorecards as scheduled. Identify and provide recommended solutions to any revenue and/or volume shortfalls. Optimize marketing actions by analyzing/evaluating competitive activities on regional/market basis; provide recommendations on appropriate activities to achieve increased market share. Support distribution-building efforts in concert with Sales, Logistics and Finance by identifying account or market opportunities and preparing SKU rationalization arguments. Provide recommendations to customers to optimize trade promotional spending; responsible for the effectiveness of promotion by account and or market REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: EDUCATION: B.A/B.S., Business Management, Marketing, Sales or related field preferred. SKILLS: Analytical and quantitative abilities, solid knowledge of computers, syndicated data (IRI/AC Nielsen and Spectra), space management (Intactics or Spaceman preferred), graphics, spreadsheets, databases and category management tools. Excellent written and oral communication skills; well-developed presentation development skills ' ability to 'tell a good story.' Ability to motivate and train people EXPERIENCE: 6+ years consumer packaged goods category management, trade marketing, and/or sales forecasting experience. 3+ years successfully managing direct reports; experience with remote employees a plus.
