Senior Buyer to handle purchasing of production material, supplier selection, and supplier relationships.

The Sr. Buyer/Planner will order plastics, sheet metal, and printed circuit boards based on MRP requirements. Experience in purchasing molds and tooling. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and JIT/Kanban systems. Analyze data and determine factors that affect prices and availability; Determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules. Review proposals, negotiate part/service costs, select or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, follows up on orders placed, verify delivery, and maintain necessary records. Develop and negotiate supply agreements with suppliers Serves as vendor liaison between manufacturing and suppliers including Contract Manufacturing. Initiate and actively participate in sourcing, cost reduction and inventory reduction initiatives. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships and manage on-going supplier performance & supplier improvement program.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Knowledge equivalent to and or receipt of APICS (CPIM) or ISM (CPM) certification. Computer literate. 5 years experience in procurement for plastics, sheet metal and printed circuit boards. Experience with computer based ERP/MRP systems required, MAX preferred. JIT/KANBAN knowledge essential. Minimum 3 years experience utilizing MRP reports to plan and manage parts requirements. Strong analytical skills, ability to multi-task and stay organized. Excellent communication, written, and negotiation skills required.
