CITY: Maryland or Washington, DC STATE: Maryland COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities): 1. Promote sales of GEHC Life Sciences product lines in assigned territory, attaining and exceeding territory budgetary goals through sales success across key product areas. 2. Promote customer satisfaction by providing quotes, service information, answering inquiries, investigating complaints managing orders and taking immediate appropriate action utilizing all available resources. 3. Communicate best practice sales success and assist in training and coaching of team members as required by the Business Unit Manager or Regional Sales Director. 4. Conduct presentations to potential customers. 5. Develop specific account strategies, account portfolios territory business plans by routinely working with high level decision makers in customer organizations and their colleagues selling and supporting other product portfolios. 6. Present and report competitive product information and competitor activity to Marketing for communication within the Region and North America. 7. Manage sales by maintaining appropriate databases and generating quotes to customers 8. Develop new accounts and customers utilizing available resources Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors degree in a Science (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Genetics) or Non-Science discipline. Minimum of 5 years field sales or applications or technical support or marketing experience or any combination of these functions with a highly complex and technical life science product line. Standard computer skills - experience in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes or equivalents. 5-10% overnight travel is required. This is a field-based sales position and as such the candidate must reside within the locality of Maryland or Washington DC area. To the extent that your are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned/leased, privately owned/leased or rental vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving records. You must be willing to take a drug test. You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history and educational background. Desired: Post graduate degree in biological or physical sciences. Awareness of GEHC product portfolio that serves this market. Knowledge of academic/biotechnology/pharmaceutical industries in Life Sciences research. Good interpersonal and communication skills, plus experience of using these skills to participate in cross-functional teams. Strong presentation skills. Proven effective sales record in previous positions. This position requires a high degree of self motivation. The candidate must possess a sense of what is most important and needs to be done next while all the while maintaining a "customer first" attitude. The ability to prioritize activities to ensure customer satisfaction and at the same time maximize profits is required. The candidate must also have a talent for getting along with and working productively with a variety of highly motivated sales personalities. A strong scientific/technical personality is also necessary as much learning is accomplished by self motivation/study and without strict didactic instruction. This is a position within our sales organization and as such the candidate is considered to be part of the overall sales effort. A "team player" attitude is expected.
