POSITION

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Pediatrics Department encompasses a network of hospitals, clinics and community based services that are integrally linked to through education and research to apply advanced medical science to the patients they serve and an abiding concern for the well-being of children to improve and restore health for New Mexico's youngest residents. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group is the only practice in the state of New Mexico. We offer an opportunity to work in a range of clinical, academic, research and/or community settings. The Speciality Nurse provides and coordinates comprehensive Pediatric Oncology specialty care and services to children with oncology disorders;operates in a range of clinical, academic, research, and/or community outreach settings; assesses Pediatric Oncology patients and associates needs; develops and implements intervention plans and evaluates responses; participates in Pediatric Oncology research protocols; assists and collaborates with other health care providers and/or community services; assists in the preparation of administrative and program related reports; maintains database of patients with diagnosis and treatment needs and assists with general Oncology problems

MINIMUM 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with New Mexico.

PREFERRED 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Pediatric experience More than 3 years of experience in nursing Nursing skills that include drawing blood, starting IV, (preferably in pediatric population), administering IV medications, knowledge of medications and indications, nursing assessment and triage skills Bilingual-English/Spanish Insurance referral and prior authorization experience

EMPLOYMENT:

Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check. CPR CertifiedCandidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment
