Special Advertising Sections Assistant Editor

Indianapolis Monthly has an immediate opening for an assistant editor in its special advertising sections. The ideal candidate will have excellent editing and multi-tasking skills, the ability to perform in an intense, deadline-oriented work environment, and enthusiasm for the magazine business.

Job responsibilities include: Fact-checking section copy; writing engaging section stories with the needs of both the magazine’s readership and sales department in mind; gathering and researching local resources for ad sections; editing for content and copy; participating in story idea meetings; working with the special advertising sections’ art staff to create attractive sections; and responding to sales department concerns and needs as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have: strong writing and researching skills; a creative, flexible and patient approach to work duties; a keen attention to detail; excellent organizational skills; the ability to work well under pressure; and the willingness to embrace new opportunities when they arise.
