Shell Exploration & Production Company (SEPCo) is responsible for safely finding, developing and producing oil and natural gas in the United States. Based in Houston, Texas, our key operating locations are in the Gulf of Mexico, South Texas, Wyoming, Alabama, and Alaska. Shell Exploration and Production Company is currently seeking a South Texas Field Facilities Engineer for their McAllen, Texas location. Responsibilities : Demonstrated competent skills in operations, facilities, and maintenance. Able to work effectively in a team setting; able to work through others to achieve results and accomplish goals. Able to work independently, help is available but the person will need to proactively seek it out when needed Good stakeholder relationship skills to be able to effectively work with HSSE, Operations and Maintenance groups Able to coach, mentor and teach others Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees; with special emphasis on the field Operations and Maintenance personnel Able to multi-task, the work will be around numerous activities at one point in time vs. focusing on one task for a long period of time Bring an appreciation of the HSSE expectations that Shell has in how its operations/projects are to be carried out Create and maintain an environment of inclusion that respects and values differences and is aligned with Shell’s core values Key Accountabilities Coordinate resources from other groups as necessary to address issues and opportunities Maintain effective working relationships and working knowledge of equipment installed at a variety of locations Support Shell’s commitment to HSE by complying with requirements in these areas. Will be working closely with Operations organization, and will be attending regular safety meetings and participating in Behavioral Based Safety Management (BBSM) program Fulfill responsibilities associated with South Texas HSE Case, and help keep it evergreen Provide technical review of production deferment coding Provide front-end project scoping/identification of improvement opportunities. Will personally carry out the smaller ones, and will hand over the larger projects to other Houston based surveillance engineers for detailed design/implementation Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to equipment owners on application, operation and maintenance of equipment to provide reliability at lowest life cycle cost Monitor Short Interval Controls (SIC) for static and rotating equipment. Help identify improvements to cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and repair (CLAIR) activities for equipment Help develop criteria to be assessed during equipment walk downs so that we detect pending problems before major problems occur Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s) of failures, and determine improvement plans to avoid a repeat of the same problem Help provide stewardship of the Management Of Change (MOC) process; ensuring changes receive the proper technical review Assist with getting key drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, SAFE Charts, etc.) up to date, and then keeping them evergreen Assist Operations with equipment shutdown planning Requirements : Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer B.S. Degree: Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, Electrical or Chemical Engineering. Strong maintenance background, without an engineering degree, will be considered 10+ years Oil & Gas experience, with gas being more valued given all of South Texas is gas production Understanding and experience with gas engine driven reciprocating compressors will be highly valued for this role Additional Requirements If field based, this position will be the most senior engineer in the field location; there may be 1-2 junior engineers but they will need to receive mentoring from this person and may not be able to provide much technical help to this person. Support needed in this role will mainly come out of Houston based Shell staff This person will need to be willing/able to respond with the Operations organization to emergency calls, and at times may need to work extended hours. This is not expected to occur very frequently, but when it does help will be expected Shell has a variety of facilities in South Texas, so there will be a good bit of driving between locations; Shell transportation will be provided If based in the field location there may be some out of town travel required (should be under 5%), mainly to Houston. If based in Houston there will be frequent travel (~30-40%) to South Texas
