Volt Technical Resources is looking for a Software Validation Engineer. This is a 4-month contract opportunity with an industry leader. We need individuals with working experience in one or more of the following areas: Streaming media (audio/video) for H.264, VC-1, and/or MPEG2. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with Microsoft's DXVA software interface. The candidate will document, design, code, and debug software based validation tests for hardware and software decoders and device drivers based on Microsoft's DXVA software interface. In addition, the candidate may be requested to document, design, code, and debug Audio/Video software test tools for the various streaming media codec formats. Also, the candidate will create conformance tests for one or more of the H.264, VC-1, and/or MPEG2.codecs, based on industry standards. This position will also include streaming media design, programming, and debugging of software validation tests and tools. Testing software that has been coded by other developers. Volt Technical Resources is an EOE.

Requirements:
- Good skills with Window XP / Windows Vista desktop system - Strong C and C++ programming skills - Working knowledge of H.264, MPEG-2, and/or VC-1 codec standards and programming - Very familiar with Microsoft software build environments - Strong communication skills, written & verbal - Ability to manage own time, but effectively ask for help when stuck - Very well organized and detail oriented. Experience with taking on a large project and bringing it to a manageable level - Experience with scripting tools / languages is a plus - Knowledge in all 3 AV formats (H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2) is a plus - The candidate must be flexible and able to work with minimal direction. Experience in validating hardware as well as software. Working knowledge of graphics concepts and hardware. Working knowledge of software debug tools such as WinDbg. Knowledge of Blu-ray and HD-DVD industry standards. Looking for a very experienced person that can accomplish this task quickly and competently.
