Position Description:

Responsibilities: Understand and refine customer requirements for disk storage systems, and then develop software/firmware feature definitions to address those requirements. Work closely with product managers and customer advocates to identify technical aspects of required product behavior. Work closely with development managers, technical team leaders, and senior developers to ensure that feature definitions are properly addressed by software/firmware designs and implementation. Actively participate in a collaborative and cooperative Software Architecture team environment that is focused on defining top-level, externally-visible product behavior and then providing solid technical guidance to development and test teams during the design and implementation phases for the defined features. Demonstrate a broad understanding of storage device technology, storage standards, storage and server virtualization architectures, and IO protocols and apply these skills to the design of both incremental enhancements and complex new product features. Requirements: At least 5 years of experience in the design and development of software/firmware for computer storage products emphasizing high-availability storage product development is required. An exhibited record of demonstrated leadership ability defining/specifying product behavior for complex storage device features is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A solid background in C/C++ programming is preferred as the foundation for the technical requirements of this position. Working experience with OS IO SW stack design and OS IO virtualization is preferred. Strong working knowledge of object-oriented design and UML is also preferred. This position can be filled in Wichita, KS, Boulder CO, Milpitas, CA, Austin, TX. or Norcross, ATL.
