In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of ITA’s seat availability system by working with your own team of seasoned system engineers and with other groups to make sure that issues such as deployment, reliability, scalability, configuration, monitoring, reporting, support/training are completely addressed. This position will report to the Director of Software Operations.


Responsibilities:
• Your team's mission is to maintain and improve ITA’s seat availability system.
• Your team will design and develop scripts, software, documentation, and training as necessary to ensure that software applications are deployed and kept running 24/7 in an operational datacenter environment in keeping with ITA quality requirements and customer service level agreements.
• Your team will be responsible for the support and maintenance of ITA software systems and associated data streams including performance, availability, archival and migration, and other administration tasks as necessary.
• You will be the main advocate for operational issues for your software components, by direct influence on your team but just as importantly by identifying dependencies from other ITA groups. Often this will involve defining / scoping software requirements and schedules working with your group, ITA engineering, QA, and the customer relations managers.
• You will assist software, hardware, and network engineers in developing policies for issues such as capacity and performance, incident handling, etc.
• You will schedule, help allocate resources and address any barriers towards the accomplishment of critical tasks related to your team's mission.
• You will develop individual talent and motivation of your staff leading to successful achievement of individual and team objectives.

Qualifications:
• Experience with managing production commercial Unix/Linux distributed, dynamic environments
• Experience with managing system engineers and operational programmers.
• Strong foundation in unix/linux system administration, Perl, Python, networking fundamentals, and operational best practices

Knowledge and Skills:
• You are someone who has a strong sense of ownership and who will drive issues to completion.
• Strong oral and written communication skills – must be able to run a meeting and effectively interface with customers and internal groups alike
• Excellent problem solving skills

Location:
This position is for a full-time employee in Kendall Square, Cambridge. We are conveniently located near the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line and provide free employee parking at the Kendall Square Cinema garage. No agencies please.
