DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT Software Engineer will be responsible for providing software development expertise, services, and support to meet the administrative and research needs of the Center. This includes all phases of software development as well as administration and support of developed applications and systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Systems, Computer, or Software Engineer/Developer responsible for hands-on software development activities (coding, debugging, etc.)
- Experience with interpreted and OO programming languages (Perl, Java, C#/.Net, & ColdFusion Preferred)
- Experience developing web-enabled database applications
- Knowledge in software development best practices
- Experience developing project requirements and cost analysis (buy-vs.-build, etc.).
- Good oral and writing skills; ability to communicate in a wide variety of environments and with personnel at all leadership levels and with varying levels of technology experience.

STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in database (RDBMS) maintenance and administration
- Experience with 'front end' web design, layout & user experience (i.e. xhtml, css & javascript)
- Experience reviewing development projects for security & performance

OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- System administration of windows and/or Linux/Unix desktop & server systems
