TITLE:
Site Engineering/RAMS Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Represent the Engineering Department within the project core team
· Organizes and manages the engineering team assigned to the program to meet the project commitments in accordance with the technical specifications, safety, quality, cost and delivery requirements
· Controls the engineering team working on site in order to meet schedule
· Establishes and maintains a positive, productive work environment, which promotes productivity and teamwork
· Ensures that engineering activities performed under the Site Engineering Manager's control are in compliance with the company policies
· With the support of the RAMS department, by performing investigations and recommending corrective actions
· Interfaces with vendors to resolve issues and to drive corrective actions to closure
· Prepares reports, letters and other documentation, as required to meet the program requirements
· Reviews the specification and contract to establish the scope of engineering work
· Monitors engineering progress and takes corrective action where necessary to maintain the engineering schedule
· Establishes and keeps current and consolidated technical challenge assessment and establish a course of action to address each challenge
· Develops and implements the verification and validation plans in conjunction with the train systems engineer for solutions to problems or as a result of investigations
· Acts as the ALSTOM site engineering representative in meetings with the customer and suppliers to resolve technical issues relating to the assigned program
· Maintains contact with vendors as necessary to clarify the requirements of the design specification, resolve design conflicts, and drive corrective actions to closure
· Initiates and assumes the lead role in directing the site engineering teams activities
· Periodically report progress of the engineering efforts to the Program Manager, Engineering Manager and/or the Director of Engineering in the form of a report, which provides a summary of the engineering status on site. The report will include propulsion status, system status, RAMS status, problems, action plans/corrective actions in place and the progress their progress
· Disseminate the results of all technical meetings and discussions to the Program Manager and to members of the site and Hornell engineering team
· Maintains a positive rapport with the customer in line with the ALSTOM Customer Care Policy
· Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Required, Masters degree preferred
5-7 years of relevant experience required
Strong organizational and planning skills
