The Product Management role related to Servers Virtualisation encompasses a wide range of activities which combine to deliver the full extent of the role. Day to day activity will be a mix of strategic analysis, business case development and promotion, coupled to a focus around total cost of ownership, cost recovery and oversight of product delivery. In the Product Management role you will interact with Senior IT and Business stakeholders and will be required to act as a figurehead for overall product strategy. As Server Virtualisation Product Manager you will work will all UBS businesses and IT functions. Key deliverables from the role include...

  • Developing a roadmap for the product, incorporating volume demand forecasts and assumptions, defining product feature set
  • Defining the Operational Level Agreement (OLA) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the product
  • Creating the cost and pricing structure and managing the overall pricing budget (product P&L) by ensuring the various value chain entities stay within their allocations
  • Carrying out continuous improvement and optimisation of the unit price
  • Gathering continuous intelligence on the products performance, user attitude, market moves and new problems and opportunities
  • Promoting and securing investment plans through the development of proposals and the appropriate business funding
  • Managing vendor relationships and defining requirements of vendor services
  • Performing competitive benchmarking of product and implementing findings
  • Providing regular reports to product consumers
  • Acting as a project sponsor for all major product initiatives, including developing delivery strategy, which includes implementation, delivery support and maintenance of the product
  • Directly influencing the development and deployment specifications of the product
  • Assuring accuracy of data base (inventories) for respective product

    The DSS Product Management function reports to the head of the DSS organisation in ITI. It is accountable for the planning and execution of the full product lifecycle within the product portfolio owned by DSS. Products in the portfolio include, UNIX, LINUX and Windows Servers, Enterprise Database, Databases etc. Core accountability related to Product Strategy development and implementation, Product Delivery oversight and overall financial control. Working via the extended virtual teams the Product Management function acts as the accountable organisation for all aspects of the Products and their direction and delivery. The role requires a mix of experience and skills which blends together a good technical competency with sound business and financial acumen. The ability to communicate efficiently and with confidence on matters related to server virtualisation as whole (Unix/Linux/windows), finance and major programs. You will have the ability to influence at MD/ED levels and negotiate with peers and customers as required. You will have strong experience in a senior IT Infrastructure position, preferably in the with recent senior experience in the virtualisation domain.
