Position Summary The Senior Trademark Attorney reports to the Chief Legal Officer of Henkel of America and also reports functionally to the Head of Global Trademarks of the parent company, Henkel KGaA, Germany.
Job Responsibilities Manage Henkel's North American trademark function, including trademark attorneys and paralegals in Rocky Hill, CT and Scottsdale, AZ. Provide legal advice in trademark, trade dress, domain name and copyright matters to Henkel's North American businesses, with focus on Henkel's adhesives businesses, regarding availability, protection, policing and enforcement of these IP assets, as well as related licensing and transactional matters. Specific responsibilities include: trademark clearance opinions, trademark filings and prosecution, investigation and resolution of conflicts with others, managing outside counsel in oppositions and trademark litigation, IP related contract drafting and negotiation. Provide legal advice regarding trademark aspects of acquisitions and divestitures, including due diligence investigations and agreement negotiations. Manage Henkel's North American trademark budget. Interface closely with parent company's global trademark function.
Minimum Requirements JD from accredited law school. License to practice law in at least one U.S. state. Minimum of ten (10) years experience in U.S. and Canadian trademark, trade dress, domain name and copyright matters, as well as experience in international trademark matters. Strong hands-on experience in all aspects of trademark and related IP practice areas, including trademark clearance and prosecution, trademark, copyright, trade dress and domain name disputes, and transactional matters, including licensing and M&A. German language skills helpful, but not required.
