Candidate must work well with supervisors, other civil/structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers and CAD operators.  Neatly perform and/or check civil/structural design calculations for steel, concrete and/or masonry structures, and civil site design and use standard structural engineering software in accordance with applicable codes.  Prepare, review and/or interpret drawings, specifications and vendor submittals.  Perform field investigations and evaluations of existing civil/structural components/systems relative to condition/ available capacity.  Determine necessary repairs, replacements, and/or modifications necessary for civil design layouts and for existing structural systems to limit stresses to code/design allowables.  Respond to client questions and comments.  Mentor and review lower level Engineers’ work.  Assist the Business Development Department in pursuing new work including proposal input, client interface & maintenance, participation in client presentations.  Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Need good oral and written communication skills.  Ability to work in highly motivated team environment.  Able to independently organize, plan, coordinate, and manage all work.  Knowledgeable with construction materials, methods, design, and codes (Building, AISC, ACI, etc.).  Proficient in the use of basic PC-based computer systems (Microsoft Word, etc.) as well as engineering programs such as Enercalc and STAAD.

 

 

Work is mostly performed in office and sometimes in field (i.e. walkdowns and inspections) at industrial/utility sites (i.e.-substations).  Work in field can include climbing, hot/cold temperatures, high noise levels, heights, dust, fumes, live electrical and rotating equipment, etc.  Will need to wear specified personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety shoes, etc.).

 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.  Professional Engineering Registration preferred, but not required.

 

Additional hours/weekends, as may be required, to keep projects on schedule.
