DescriptionDescriptionThe successful candidate will provide technical support in research informatics to local scientists (chemists and biologists) to fulfill the scientific computational needs for our drug discovery programs. Responsibilities include:Install, implement and maintain all scientific software (cheminformatics software, electronic lab notebook, and some bioinformatics software), and provide training sessions to individual scientists and groups. Provide desktop support to scientists to bridge the gap between corporate IT and end-users. Share hardware maintenance and database administration responsibilities within the global Drug Discovery Informatics organization. Work with other teams/departments (including IT) to create, implement and maintain the local intranet department web pages.Develop databases and application tools. Hold quarterly software training sessions to educate scientists on available informatics tools and resources in the company.
Qualifications:Language and EducationA strong command of English language is required Ph.D. preferred; M.S. required.
Professional Skills and ExperienceExtensive experience using Oracle PL/SQL in an informatics development environment. Fluent in scripting languages (including JavaScript, Perl, and PHP). Experience with Visual Studio.NET and in Oracle installation and maintenance is highly desired. Expertise with informatics software, such as Accelrys and MDL.General knowledge in medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, and protein production is desired.
