Job Description: Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc. (formerly Noveon), a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation, has an immediate need for a Sr. Research Chemist – Polymer Physics in its Noveon Consumer Specialties business located at our Brecksville, Ohio facility (a southern suburb of Cleveland). DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The position will give the candidate the opportunity to work on and impact problems of significant importance to the business. Investigate why things work by studying the underlying mechanism, simplifying physical chemical concepts and applying them to provide solutions to industrial process and product related problems and initiatives. Work in collaboration with the R&D Applications and Synthesis groups to develop an understanding of the mechanisms of conditioning and fixative performance for the Personal Care industry. Apply this knowledge to develop novel additives for both conditioning and fixatives for the Personal Care industry. Strong interaction with a variety of technical, marketing, sales, and production disciplines will be expected. Must be comfortable working with both internal and external resources to develop solutions to industrial problems. Comply with all applicable internal and external Lubrizol and HSE policies. Less than 10 percent domestic travel.

Job Experience: SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • PhD in Chemistry or science related field. • Minimum five (5) years of industrial experience. • Strong understanding of physical and organic chemistry. • Experience in colloid/polymer, surface chemistry and/or rheology. • A strong orientation toward, and a commitment to, utilizing the most efficient problems solving techniques and tools. • Ability to produce multiple solutions to a problem and work on multiple paths simultaneously. • Project management skills. • Must have strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication and presentation skills. • Must have strong PC skills including Microsoft Office.
