The Medical Device Research Laboratory of the Borgess Research Institute, (BRI), in Kalamazoo, MI., currently has an excellent Senior Research Associate position available. The Senior Research Associate will Assist Study Director, Laboratory Scientist(s) and/or Principal Investigator(s) in the development of protocol objectives and methods. Assists laboratory staff in the development and maintenance of laboratory standard operating procedures.

Responsible for the technical training and oversight of staff. Areas may include; surgical procedures, animal husbandry, molecular biology, histopathology applications and quantitative coronary analysis. Must be able to coordinate studies, including supporting the development of new protocols, compiling data, and assist in the preparation of final reports. Must be able to assist in the design, development and implementation of sponsored study protocols in accordance with GLP and GCP guidelines. Must be able to supervise technical staff supporting the conduct of research projects to ensure compliance with protocol and laboratory standard operating procedures. Demonstrates ability to present data at scientific meetings. Must be familiar with the specialized supplies and equipment needed for laboratory research. Must be available for emergency responses during non routine business hours and holidays.

Requirements:

B.S. in appropriate biomedical field is required; a M.S. is highly desirable; however equivalent experience may be substituted.

Education in the field of Veterinary Medicine is preferred.

5 years or more of research or related experience.

Must have knowledge of regulations governing research, such as GLPs, GCPs and Animal Welfare Act.
