Philips Lumileds Lighting currently has an opening for a Senior Project Engineer.  The successful candidate will join an international team of the world’s best device and package engineers in development of the highest brightness LED sources for digital imaging illumination applications.  A thorough working familiarity with Statistical Process Control, Statistical Quality Control, and 6-sigma methodology will help the candidate’s main mission: to address the enhanced reliability needs of future products by supporting the broad scale implementation of 6-sigma processes within the development teams.  A broad understanding of engineering and physics will enable the candidate to assist product development through technology selection and product definition.  This includes reliability studies and Failure Mode and Effect analyses, process development and documentation, and the associated development and implementation of Process Capability.  The Project Engineer will help the project through introduction to manufacturing and high volume production.  

Requirements:

MS/PhD or equivalent in materials science, mechanical, electrical, physics, or semiconductor devices.Working familiarity with Statistical Process Control, Statistical Quality Control, Six-Sigma methodology, industrial statistical analysis, data gathering and tracking for Process Capability, for Leading & Lagging Key Process Indicators, related setup & organization of specifications, control plans, documentation.Familiarity with engineering issues, including specifications, planning, schedules, experimental designs.Capable to learn specific engineering skills as needed, including mechanical / optical / thermal design and analysis.Experience with teaching and/or leading small teams.Experience working with customers and the broad business issues related to bringing a technology to market.Process development and yield improvement experience in high volume manufacturing setting

 

Primary technical skills include industrial statistical analysis and quality control, 6-sigma methodology, materials / mechanical / optical / thermal engineering, and various semiconductor packaging processes
