The Power Business Group focuses on new power generation projects as well as repowering, upgrades, and modifications to existing plants.

We deliver full-service engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and services solutions that address key client needs and issues, which include unpredictable electricity demand, transmission capacity constraints, defined energy strategy, response to energy bill impacts, improved market rules and operations, clean air (including mercury regulations), solutions for water constraints, demand for a renewable strategy, and fuel diversification.

CH2M HILL is actively looking for as Senior Level ME to help with projects and manage / mentor other engineers and team members.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Detail design of power and utility systems including steam, condensate, natural gas, compressed air, cooling water, liquid fuel, and other auxiliary systems.

• Work as part of a design team on large combined cycle power projects.

• Work as part of a design team on large combined cycle power projects.

 • Projects include EPC (Engineer, Procure, and Construct) projects involving gas turbine and steam turbine power plants.

• Supervise junior engineers in the preparation of design documents and calculations.

• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project team members during the design and construction phases.

• Majority of work will be in cogeneration and combined cycle power plants. 

Qualifications •Must have well advanced experience with project management software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3/P5 and P6), Primavera Contract Manager, Access, and Microsoft Project software as well as spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
•8 years of engineering/construction industry experience
•6 years of Project Controls/Scheduling experience
•4 years relevant power project experience (Solid Fuel, Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle Power Plants, Clean Air Projects)
•Significant EPC as well as engineering services project delivery experience
•Understanding of Project Scheduling concepts, philosophies, and systems.
•Understanding of Project Earned Value Management concepts, philosophies, and systems.
•Must understand various contract types, i.e. cost plus, T&M, lump sum and ensure that all requirements of the prime contract are understood. Must also understand Joint Venture contracting relationships.
•Must be able to exercise independent and professional judgment in solving problems and coordinating issues as it relates to schedules' and exercise independent judgment in dealing with clients, subcontractors and team partners in solving scheduling problems on complex and large scale EPC projects.
•Must be able to read and interpret design drawings and develop project execution plans for schedule development.
•Must possess practical application of engineering, procurement, construction and start up functions.
•Must possess practical application of estimating, costing, scheduling, forecasting and project controls techniques and methodology.
•Must be proficient in leading, managing and directing people; and be able to direct and delegate work assignment.
•Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, negotiation skills and presentations skills.
•Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with coworkers, supervisors, managers, clients and other in contact with the job.
