SHN is seeking a Senior Professional Surveyor/Department Head for either our Eureka or Redding, CA offices. Typical duties include: developing, scheduling and managing projects; training, mentoring, and scheduling personnel; providing quality assurance/control in all offices as needed; and controlling the operations and direction of their department and for personnel within their department. The Senior Professional Surveyor/Department Head must be a leader who is able to inspire others. The primary function of this position is to support the Survey Service Director by acting as their local representative; to manage the department; to oversee the technical quality of projects; to hire, train, and retain technical staff; to commit technical resources to projects; and to perform business development activities in conjunction with the Regional Managers. Successful candidates will have proven ability to lead a small department, perform professional level survey field and office work, and a willingness to be a team player in a highly charged environment. Experience and proficiency using conventional, GPS, and robotic equipment, and experience using AutoCAD and Land Development Desktop without further training is essential. Specifically Leica 1200 series robotic total station; Carlson SurvCE data collection software; Trimble GPS equipment; ACAD/LDD 2007; and ACAD Civil 3D Education/Registrations/Certifications: *Graduation from an accredited survey/geomatics program (preferred): *CA Registered Professional Land Surveyor *Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. *Must possess a valid California Driver’s License by hire date
