PB Americas is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals as it expands its Pennsylvania, Northeast and national planning practices. There are (3) open Pennsylvania positions: (1) in Pittsburgh, (1) in Harrisburg and (1) in Philadelphia. Job Summary: Organized, self-starter to manage projects and leads planning activities, with a regional focus but opportunities to work across a regional and national landscape. Work is performed with wide latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, contractors, the public, and other PB personnel. Acts as a staff specialist in providing technical guidance for complex or unique assignments. Performs highly complex planning, programming, research and analysis activities in support of management-related programs and/or projects. Conducts research and analysis on highly complex issues of regional and national importance. Opportunities to participate in internal research and development. Major Duties: • Responsible for the management and administration of large planning projects • Provides and demonstrates leadership, clear communication, mentoring, and empowerment of staff. • Prioritizes, plans and directs assignments of planners and technical/administrative staff • Oversees the work of planners and technicians performing highly complex planning activities • Oversees collection, analysis and interpretation of data • Provides information and support to governmental officials, clients, users and the public • Makes presentations to clients, government officials, and industry representatives. • Stays abreast of industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation • Reviews, evaluates, and monitors consultant work, research programs or special studies • Performs quality control reviews • Develops and monitors progress and budgets for projects under his or her direction • Support staff recruitment and professional development efforts • Actively participates in professional organizations • Tracks leads for business development and writes proposals • Represents the firm at local, state, and national levels.
A relevant Bachelor's Degree is required and a Master's Degree or specialization in transportation or transportation land use or community planning is highly desirable with a minimum of 8 years progressively responsible experience in planning or research-related activities (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). Strong written and oral communications skills are required. AICP certification and supervisory/project management experience are preferred.
