Web Design:

 

Guided by the “User Experience” principles, requirements analysis and validation the Sr. Designer produces the master design and establishes the over all web architecture, including “look and feel”, of Kamehameha’s System Web Sites and master template(s)- e.g. www.ksbe.edu and ksonline.ksbe.edu. Leads and manages all aspects of web design and development processes, from concept analysis to successful project completion. Leads brainstorming sessions between the leadership, content and technical teams to create concepts that speak to both the client's and end user's goals. Develops and evolves design concepts, creates the “master design”, secures approvals, produces the project plan, manages the projects, determines project priorities including managing resource usage and schedules from project inception to completion. Responsible for developing, specifying, documenting and maintaining overall design standards, procedures, and parameters for all web design projects, including timely and on-going satisfaction of agreed upon project requirements. 

 

Quality Assurance (QA):

 

Provides the “master blueprint” and planning for the growth and maintenance of Kamehameha System Web Sites to ensure optimal web support of Kamehameha’s and CR&C’s Strategic Plans. Establishes and implements QA standards and processes to guide the day-to-day business of administering, operating and monitoring CR&C’s System Web Sites. Initiates regular, timely evaluations and reports of CR&C’s web designs and systems. Establishes procedures and measures to ensure the highest design standards, expectations & requirements satisfaction, user experience and system performance.

 

Implements processes to frequently scan for design and customer satisfaction improvement opportunities. Keeps current on best of breed practices and methods for managing and monitoring web system quality. Manages and assures the quality of all KS System Website presentations and visual media - i.e. graphics, banners, photos, text display, etc. Ensures designs are appropriate and current; may determine interim training, design or development support for new and current site managers as needed. Constantly and responsively ensures that a sound succession plan is in place for Kamehameha’s’ System Websites - covering design, development & production. 

 

Web Technologies:

 

Serves as “lead technologist” for determining the “design toolbox” and methods employed in CRC’s’ web design and development environment (i.e. open source, Darwin, Apache, MySQL, PHP environment). Responsible for selecting, implementing and refining tool(s) for web design, monitoring and reporting. Responsible for processes and procedures to provide failsafe backs-up of System Website servers, content and critical files. Continually seeks to be current and proactive in advancing knowledge, skills and practices for self and team members. 

 

Search Engine:

 

Oversees operation of search services; search indexes and correlating files/scripts. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Bachelors Degree in Web Design, Computer Science,, Web Applications Design, Communications Design, Communications Arts, New Media Design or closely related field

 

• More than five years of related work experience. 2 – 3 years of WWW development; and 2 years of technical background to include familiarity with UNIX, NT or OSX based web platforms and advanced web applications. OR High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 3-5 years experience as a proven web designer leader with a record of substantial web design project record and successes produced for a world class organization with a world class online presence. Experience must demonstrate a mastery of the knowledge and skills in visual communication, web communication, information architecture, usability engineering, UI design, social engineering, system admin & ops, and cross platform integration as would be acquired through an accredited Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Visual Communication Arts, Fine Arts, Architecture or equivalent fields.

 

• Advanced Internet skills (browsers, e-mail, RSS); broad knowledge of WWW practices and procedures, with a clear understanding of Web technology and associated operating environments, security and programming. Solid understanding of different internet technologies, with knowledge of their relative advantages and limitations

 

• Ability to work independently with other individuals one-on-one and as part of a team. Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple assignment and priorities. Ability to provide support and trouble-shooting expertise to web developers and staff, provide direction regarding the use of web development products and technologies;

 

• Must be proficient in written, verbal and online communications, technical writing and graphic

 

• Specific Technical Skills Requirements: PHP, JavaScript, Java, CGI (capabilities and uses) and work with web-connected databases. XHTML (tables, forms, image maps, tools, etc.); HTTP (servers, user authentication, cookies, etc.); TCP/IP (IP addresses, proxy services DNS, etc.): Graphics (file formats, size/color tradeoffs, tools, etc.); Browsers (capabilities of different products and versions). Ability to edit and create GIF and JPG pictures, create transparent gifs.

 

• Familiarity with one of more of the following: advanced skills in web servers and file systems; file conversion issues (including UNIX-DOS text MAC binary); graphic design/new media and paint programs; Sysadmin, Sysop experience; layout design software or log analysis background.
