The Senior Network/Security Engineer has overall responsibility for the organization's technical infrastructure (business and end user), network security, data backups, disaster recovery, restructuring of network usage, data center, and interaction with various vendors. This person operates independently, but communicates and interfaces to internal IT groups and external business departments. Duties: Analyze and resolve technical problems for established networks Perform capacity planning of desktops, servers, and network infrastructure Research, recommend, purchase, test and implement network, server and workstation hardware and software Provide network documentation and cross-training with other department personnel Serve as technical specialist for network problems and emergencies Troubleshoot and resolve network production problems Install, upgrade, maintain and configure e-mail, network printing, directory structures, user access controls and file services Maintain the company's phone system Maintain relationship with hardware/software/network vendors and work with vendors on resolution of network problems Maintain confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored or accessed over the network Document network problems and resolutions for future reference Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing and user access and security Plan, test, implement and maintain a disaster recovery solution Plan, test, implement and maintain an organizational data backup and recovery solution Implement network-based security controls The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position includes the following. Required: 4 years of working in a network environment with exposure to and hands-on responsibility for small data center operations, MS Exchange e-mail system, telephone system, network security, and interaction with vendors (6-8 years would be preferred) Analytical and detail-oriented Flexible and adaptable Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience implementing a disk-disk-tape backup solution Experience implementing a DR solution Previous experience with the following technologies: VMWARE, MS Exchange 2003, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2000/2003 Previous experience managing large projects using MS Project Preferred: Experience implementing and operating in an environment based on ITIL best practices Required Education: BA/BS in an appropriate IT discipline Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States of America 2 + years of Windows server/ advanced administration experience Microsoft Certification or similar experience (MCSE, MCSA, and/or MCP) CISSP / CCNA certification 4+ years of Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/XP support experience 2+ years of Microsoft Windows NT/2000/2003 server experience 1+ year(s) of MS Project Preferred Education: Formal Microsoft Systems Applications Program/Hardware systems training Appropriate Certification designations 1+ year(s) of Microsoft Active Directory experience
