Job Description:
Working with external customers to identify new product development needs. Interfacing with plant floor personnel to identify process improvement needs. Transferring technology from R&D to plant floor. Networking with other R&D organizations/institutes to identify new technologies, and submit proposals for funding. Functional testing of products, documentation and management of projects through the stage gate process.
This position will have a direct impact on cost of goods, R&D expenditures and departmental budget. The amount of the impact will be determined by the nature of the projects assigned in the future. This individual will address projects identified by executive review to be “Strategic” in that they are key to the future business and financial goal of the company
Experience and Skills:
Qualified candidates will have a minimum MS degree, preferred PhD, in metallurgical or materials engineering with 5+ years in coatings. The ideal candidate will have brazing experience, knowledge of lean six sigma or DFSS methodologies, excellent communication skills and has experience with government proposals/projects. This individual should be self motivated, has excellent project management skills and good networking ability. Experience with coatings for corrosion and wear desired. Experience with surface coatings for power generation or oil field industries preferred.
