Description: This Manager will be a part of the International Marketing Team. The charter of this team is to a) to drive global operating efficiencies through “Centers of Excellence” in Internet & Retention Marketing, b) refine the strategy c) further develop global demand by advancing the efforts around the Global Buying Hub and d) drive best practice sharing across international markets.
Specifically, the person in this role will be responsible for developing and driving traffic to the Global Buying Hub (GBH). The GBH was launched in 2007 to address the demands of all eBay users that are not served by a specific eBay country site. The opportunity is tremendous as global demand by these users represents more than a billion dollars of Gross Merchandise Volume per year.
The core mission is to further develop the GBH from a product as well as from a Marketing perspective to better serve the needs of eBay’s global community and capitalize on the fact that cross border trade plays an increasingly important role in expanding eBay’s global efforts.
The person in this role will define the product strategy for the Global Buying Hub and work on a detailed product roadmap to submit to the development team. This entails channeling user’s needs and ensuring that existing and new product functionality will meet users’ demands. Furthermore, this individual will also play a key role in driving more traffic to the GBH by using various Marketing levers.
Define product strategy, key features, requirements and roadmap for the Global Buying Hub
Gather requirements from internal & external stakeholders and channel these into a set of features & functionalities
Work with the internal & external development teams and QA engineers to ensure timely implementation of new product features
Analyze the external marketplace, customers, and competitors to determine the features needed to gain market share
Work in conjunction with the other Marketing lead to roll out new initiatives to promote traffic to and adoption of the Global Buying Hub
Leverage Cross Border Trade initiatives with other countries to increase visibility of the GBH
Conduct Product & Market research in key countries to identify new products and opportunities
Collaborate with key stakeholders in and outside eBay to promote the Global Buying Hub
Establish a strong voice for all “unsited” eBay markets to fulfill our customers’ needs
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with a demonstrated strong academic and professional performance. The position requires someone who is highly analytical, organized and detail-oriented with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in a quantitative discipline, MBA a plus
6 – 8 years of marketing experience, internet/e-commerce industry-based background preferred
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment
Track record of implementing consumer marketing campaigns with successful results, comfortable with Internet Marketing
Team Player, must be experienced at effective communication, building consensus, and fostering teamwork
Experience with cross-functional and multiple program execution. Product / Technical experience important
Passion for eBay and results and an entrepreneurial mind-set a must
High energy and a desire to work in a results-oriented, fast growth environment.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
