QBE Agri, located in Lenexa, KS (Kansas City) is one of the largest US agricultural insurers. We are seeking a Senior Liability Claim Representative who is driven. This is an opportunity for a self-starting professional with at least 3 to 5 years of multi-state Liability and litiagation claims experience to function in a resolution and facilitation role. Your work will be as varied and diverse as our book of business. You will be responsible for handling newly reported to full resolution of all types of liability litigation claims - bodily injury to employer's liability with the potential potential to handle some litigation. This role offers the opportunity to investigate loss and make liability determinations as well as manage outside independent appraisal services and legal firms on a national level. While this is an office-based position, field experience is critical to success in this role, and selected candidate may have the opportunity to handle field assignments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Makes timely and appropriate contacts and completes appropriate level of investigation to make determination of coverage, liability and damages.
2. Determines exposure, establishes adequate reserves and makes timely adjustments as required.
3. Assigns and directs activities of internal and external resources as required; including independent adjusters, appraisers and attorneys. Identifies questionable claims and consults with SIU for further direction as appropriate.
4. Determines settlement value of the loss and negotiates proper settlement of claims within authority. Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level.
5. Documents clearly and concisely all relevant activity on assigned files and makes recommendations for additional activity as appropriate.
6. Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:
Under limited supervision, responsible for making consistent decisions on claim settlements. Determines coverage issues, assess liability, and clearly and concisely documents file activity. Exercises considerable discretion and independent judgment, and is capable of determining and analyzing complex issues.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Strong claims technical knowledge, and legal climate background in local market is essential. Strong analytical and negotiation skills. Must have the ability to interact with customers. Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including current Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must maintain a high level of accuracy, and provide follow-through on projects. Requires the ability to maintain confidential information and work independently and as a member of a team. Qualifications: The position resolves assigned less routine, more complex claims through investigation, evaluation and disposition. Within company guidelines, makes appropriate settlement recommendations on claims exceeding authority. Reviews and processes moderately complex claims.
High school diploma with demonstrated insurance or technical experience required.
Bachelors degree preferred.
