Our client seeks a Senior Grants Accountant to ensure compliance with federal and organizational regulations as they relate to the financial administration of grants and cooperative agreements.
Responsibilities:
Reviews grant proposal budgets, grant agreements, and modifications for compliance with company’s policies and donor regulations such as USAID, US Department of State, National Endowment for Democracy, and various foreign governments. Reviews monthly reports of grant expenses and assists program staff with budget related issues Communicates with program staff on a regular basis regarding financial management of their country programs Provides training to program staff on grant financial management issues such as effective budgeting, preparing expenditure forecasts, and reading and analyzing monthly reports of grant expenses Assists with the preparation of audit schedules and reports for Board of Directors Coordinates with the other units of accounting such as Subgrants, General Accounting, and International Field Accounting as necessary.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or similar field. Minimum of five (5) years of grant accounting experience preferably in an international or non-profit environment. High level of oral and written communication skills to effectively present complex financial information to program staff and to respond to questions. Ability to act in an advisory capacity with program staff on financial matters related to grants and cooperative agreements. Ability to analyze budgets, define problems, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret donor and federal regulations such as OMB Circulars A-110, A-122, and A-133 as they relate to the financial administration of grants and cooperative agreements. Exceptional knowledge of PC-based word processing systems, spreadsheets, and computerized accounting systems. Knowledge of federal contract administration a plus. Willingness to travel to international field office locations that are often difficult to reach.
