Senior Financial Analyst – R&D

Private Biotech Company – South Bay

$90,000 + bonus

Responsibilities

·        Provide financial support and analysis to the Research and Operations (Development, Quality and Manufacturing) groups.

·        Act as primary liaison between these two groups and various G&A groups (e.g. Finance, Accounting and Purchasing).

·        Provide department managers with tools necessary to make accurate and timely decisions.

·        Identify key cost drivers in the group, helping managers to stay informed of the financial impact of operational decisions/events.

·        Develop recommendations for cost savings and financial controls.

·        Manage budgeting, forecasting and internal financial reporting for departments within Research and Operations.

·        Assist in month-end close; work with assigned cost centers to develop and provide accruals and forecasts.

·        Position reports to Director, R&D Business Operations.

·        Manage production and distribution of monthly and quarterly internal financial reports – department budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, commitment reports, etc.

·        Serve as a financial resource, answer questions and provide ad-hoc financial support to various department managers and employees.

Requirements

·        A BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/Business or related field is required.

·        Prefer 3+ years experience in financial planning & analysis within the biotech or pharma industry required; R&D finance preferred

·        Financial spreadsheet skills required

·        Familiarity with Excel, SAP, and Cognos desired.

·        Ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and analytical with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
