POSITION SUMMARY: Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs and technology-supported processes. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Will provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. Performs a variety of tasks as needed.



SCOPE OF SUPERVISION: Long-term, this position may supervise junior business analysts in the IT Solutions group. However, this is not in the immediate future.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze complicated business processes. Demonstrated ability to understand and translate complex technical ideas and information into easy-to-understand terms for non-technical people. Demonstrated experience in utilizing facilitation and brainstorming techniques. Demonstrated initiative and judgment in managing shifting priorities, risks and competing interests of multiple projects. Uses common sense in proposing solutions and alternatives. Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to evaluate new business and emerging technologies for strategic and operational fit. Demonstrated proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications including Microsoft Project, Visio and SharePoint.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may have direct reports; Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, pl ann ing assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

A wide degree of creativity and resourcefulness is expected.

EDUCATION:

MS, MHA, MPH or MBA preferred. Open to someone with a Bachelor degree with major course work in Computer Science, Mathematics or other related field AND strong work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

A t least 8-10 years of business analysis experience in a consulting or technical environment. Healthcare experience required. Prefer experience working in a development environment or with implementing HRIS, Finance and other enterprise software packages. Engineering background preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching, and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and/or need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment. Some travel (10%) required.
