NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a Senior Animal Care Technician to operate and maintain a small animal facility housing rodents and Zebrafish. The Senior Animal Care Technician will:

Conduct day-to-day operation and maintenance of the facility.Consult with AD for Research and IACUC Chair to ensure the animal facility is in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Perform mouse genotyping procedures and instruct personnel in the proper procedures for mouse genotyping as needed. Instruct and supervise laboratory personnel in proper techniques for performing IP, IV, and IM injections in mice and rats. Hold periodic animal care training classes for new laboratory personnel.Maintain central stores of anesthetics used for animal experiments and oversee allocation of anesthetics to individual researchers with required record-keeping to conform to government regulations

 

Previous training and experience with animal husbandry and handling and performing experimental techniques is preferred.  Previous experience with compliance to government regulations and requirements preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is needed.

 

Master of Science Degree in Biology/Biotechnology/ or a related area is required.
