Aurora Parts & Accessories, an aftermarket semi-trailer parts distributor, is seeking a Senior Commodity Manager for its Lebanon, Indiana operation.

Duties:

Develop creative solutions to reduce program costs including: strategic pre-buys, freight cost analysis, and sourcing to alternative suppliers.Understand factors impacting the cost of base metals and proactively purchase related parts to minimize overall cost.Rationalize the supplier base and negotiate strategic long-term agreements with key suppliers.Review supplier cost change analysis and negotiate with suppliers to mitigate part coasts - reviewing $ base movement and parts with high % cost change.Work with Product Marketing to develop and launch private label programs under tight deadlines.Understand dealer nets and the impact of part cost movement on Aurora margin.Work with the Materials Planner to ensure parts are ordered with adequate lead time and safety stock requirements are met.Master the AS400 business system quickly and use its sophisticated elements to enhance job efficiency.Work with Account and provide timely resolution of PO/invoice discrepancies.Write concise and effective contracts with proper grammar and attention to detail.Work with Sales to expedite part deliveries to key accounts and obtain special quotes as necessary to achieve market penetration.Work with the Materials Planner to improve the flow of purchase orders and enhance feedb ack to suppliers through the implementation of EDI and a supplier information system.Work efficiently with Pricing to build up new part numbers and provide attention to detail on part cross-references.Resolve material prdocut discrepancie efficiently with suppliers.

Mature, calm, responsible individual that works well with diverse groups and works independently until projects are complete.

Skills:

At lest four years of purchasing experience in an aftermarket distribution organizationExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to mult-task on complex tasks to delivery results.Mastery of Office applications (Excell, Access, Word, PowerPoint)

Education:

A four year degree with emphasis in one or more of the following:  business, engineering, computer systems, finance.  A four year degree in some other major will be considered if the individual has proven purchasing experience.
