Northside insurance Company looking for a Senior Accountant

Experience

·         Compiling information to close a general ledger on a monthly basis including the accruals, expense analyses and journal entries.

·         Utilizing general ledger information to prepare a set of financial statements.

·         Maintaining accurate records of ceded treaty reinsurance. This includes accrual-basis accounting for ceded losses and expenses, billing of same and processing reinsurer payments.

·         Maintaining accurate records of investment portfolio activity. Digesting transaction detail into monthly general ledger entries.

·         Preparing insurance statutory financial statement Schedules D and F.

·         Some exposure to incurred loss and expense analysis for the purpose of IBNR reserving.

·         Preparing state premium tax and income tax returns.

·         Extensive experience with Excel and investment accounting software.

·         Familiarity with state insurance regulatory requirements.

·         Supervision or direction of other accountants in the above tasks.

Education

·         Bachelors degree with major in Accounting.

·         Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant status strongly preferred.

·         Demonstrated practical work experience as a senior staff accountant, preferably at least seven years.
