The Senior Accountant position is responsible for the general ledger, and the production of resultant financial statements, analysis, and reports, for a leading reinsurance intermediary. Responsibilities Include: 1. Ensure recording of financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).2. Prepare, review, and post recurring and ad-hoc journal entries to the general ledger (e.g. revenue, compensation, accruals).3. Analyze financial data from various system interfaces to the general ledger.4. Prepare and ensure accuracy of financial reports and statements (e.g. monthly income statements, quarterly balance sheet and support schedules).5. Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet and profit & loss accounts utilizing the general ledger, subsystems, and financial statements.6. Review global financial data sent by local country finance managers and prepare for consolidation.7. Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.8. Provide accounting advice and guidance to other departments and outsourced accountants.9. Support internal and external auditors in their accounting inquiries.10. Perform ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assigned.11. Participate in special projects impacting Finance. 1. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices. 2. Strong computer skills for using financial accounting systems, spreadsheets, and other software. 3. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc. 4. Ability to monitor and control daily workflow. 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 6. Ability to work cooperatively and promote inclusiveness with others 7. Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor 8. Bachelor Degree in accounting or equivalent and at least three years experience in a corporate accounting environment. 9. CPA or equivalent, or working toward a CPA or equivalent 10. Experience with Oracle Financials a plus 11. Insurance or Reinsurance industry experience a plus12. Public accounting and/or foreign exchange experience a plus
