PGS Long Island Branch is currently accepting applications for Security Officers to work at our client sites in Brooklyn, NY.  Qualified applicants should meet strict essential functions of the job that encompass high levels of physical and mental abilities and must be able to pass an extensive background investigation to include behavioral assessment surveys, and pre-employment backgrounds investigations. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a U.S. CitizenAt least 21 years of ageMust have NYS Guard LicenseMust be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug testHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsMinimum of six (6) months previous satisfactory work experience. Security officer, prior law enforcement, or prior military experience is strongly encouraged.Ability to understand and clearly read, hear, speak, and write in English in order to effectively communicate with employees and clientsMust have reliable means of communication (pager or phone) and reliable means of transportation

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Assist visitors and customers with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility, through the admittance process Screen visitors and customers in an efficient manner in order to expedite their admittance into the facility Provide an atmosphere in which all associates, customers, and visitors know that the company responds to, and cares about their needs Communicate in a manner that is open, honest, and responsive in all situations Provide pleasant interaction with associates, customers, and visitors Provide general information pertaining to the surrounding areas and assistance as requested by visitors and/or customers regarding the facility in an effort to ensure customer satisfaction Tour assigned route checking for unlocked doors, unsafe conditions, security violations, fire hazards, mechanical problems, blocked exits/doors/stairways, unauthorized persons, etc. Log conditions in DAR or other report formats Observe and report any suspicious activity to appropriate security/management representative Assure that all property removal is conducted within appropriate policy requirements Enforce regulations designed to prevent breaches of security and exercise judgment while using discretion in dealing with the emergencies and security violations encountered
