Protecting the establishment, its patients, visitors, staff, employees and invitees against the hazards of crime, fire, other emergencies, and trespass, maintain decorum of persons and to assist in the enforcement of hospital rules and regulations. Mans fixed posts and/or patrols hospital premises. Be alert for fire, theft, accident prevention, water, oil, gas or steam leaks, power and light waste, property damage, housekeeping matters, violation of work rules, control of parking, traffic and other matters peculiar to the premises being protected. Ascertains the proper identity of all persons during the hours of the personal I.D. and control period. Examine property and parcels being taken from the premises to deter theft. Aids the acutely ill and renders assistance to those in need. Observes the general condition of buildings, roadways, sidewalks and equipment; noting and reporting any irregularities or defects. Insures all fire fighting apparatus is in place and unobstructed. Responds to safety related accidents/incidents as appropriate. May be required to testify in court pertaining to Hospital and/or security matters.The marginal functions of the position include but are not limited to: Provides information assistance and directions to patients, visitors and staff, as necessary. Performs other duties in area of responsibility that may be assigned.

This is a part time position.

Education & Training: High school graduate or equivalent. Valid Pa/NJ/Del drivers license. Experience: Previous security/military or other law enforcement experience preferred. Training period of 4 to 6 weeks - to learn buildings, clock rounds, fire and other alarm systems.
