Illinois Tool Works has recently been named one of America's most admired companies by a prominent business publication. We are looking for a Pro Remodeling Sales Representative at one of our leading divisions, Paslode. Paslode is an industry leading manufacturer of cordless and pneumatic fastening systems for new home construction and remodeling applications. The position will be based out of our New York City territory. Candidates should reside in any of the five boroughs, or in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
The Pro Remodeling Sales Representative position utilizes Trade Focus selling skills to create end-user demand for Paslode . They develop and maintain a data base of ”80” remodeling contractors and “80” custom home builders to target their sales efforts toward. Works as part of the Remodeling Segment team to meet and exceed profitable sales and margin objectives. Develops and implements end-user specific selling strategies to support territory sales objectives focused on the remodeling segment. Effectively utilizes basic selling skills to develop and maintain strong business relationships with targeted end-users and channel partners, with the goal of driving sales growth within the remodeling segment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Developing on-going and continuous market analysis of the Remodeler/Custom Home Builder segment by obtaining end-user intelligence through multiple sources such as Paslode Trade Focus and key channel customers. Using 80/20, creates end-user specific selling strategies designed to increase Paslode sales and brand awareness with the Remodeler/Custom Home Builder within the sales territory.
Achieving annual territory revenue plans. Uses territory Trade Focus selling process, with aggressive end-user work, to create demand and pull through of Paslode products. Exhibits selling skills by effectively driving sales through end-user sales negotiations and product presentations, and resolving customer issues fairly and timely. Develops and recommends territory selling plans, and uses Paslode and competitive product knowledge to drive sales. Implements national and regional selling strategies and pricing and promotional programs across the territory for maximum benefit to Paslode.
Establishing and maintaining contact with the management of existing and potential channel partners within the sales territory. Develops segment specific sales plans jointly with channel partners that coordinate and support the Paslode territory plan. Works with channel partner sales personnel to drive sales and implement Paslode programs and promotions. Measure and monitor the effectiveness of all programs implemented and managed in the territory. Initiates and coordinates end-user selling events with channel partners to drive sales, build end-user demand and channel loyalty.
Building credibility within Paslode and Territory Sales Team, as well as with external stakeholders, by using good verbal and written communication skills. Is accountable for plans and actions that build the Paslode brand within the territory. Proactively provides feedback and recommendations to District/Territory Sales Manager, and to other Paslode functions such as Marketing, National Accounts and Distribution. Develops/begins collaboration with these functions to coordinate effective territory selling plans.
Establishing and maintains contact with the management of In-Store Service providers for channel partners within the territory. Works with In-Store Service managers to build Paslode product knowledge and implement Paslode programs/promotions. Measure and monitor the effectiveness of all programs implemented and managed in the territory. Provide feedback to District/Territory Sales Manager regularly.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree required
3-5 selling experience with proven record of success
Proven ability to influence customers
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to analyze sales data and determine appropriate actions to improve account position
Results driven with ability to manage multiple priorities and highly effective follow through skills
Must be able to drive a motor vehicle with a clean driving record
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Travel required - up to 25%
This position includes heavy focus sales calls to residential constructions sites, distributor store/warehouse locations and dealer stores. Works independently out of a home office.
The employee must possess the ability to operate and demonstrate pneumatic and Cordless tools to end-users on residential construction sites, occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds, physically maneuver around and operate on a residential construction site and be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving throughout the territory. The employee will be required to attend trade shows and as such will handle and set up items such as displays, tents, tools and air compressors.
