Position Description: A Sales Representative is responsible for the sale of commercial carpet and other sales-related activities within the assigned territory. Primary customer contacts include commercial interior designers, architects, flooring contractors/carpet dealers, and corporate clients. This position will focus more on managing sales to the dealer network in the greater Miami area. The work environment is fast-paced, highly competitive and requires travel within the territory (minimal overnight travel required). The compensation format is a commission-based plan following a transition period (typically 24-months) of a salary-based plan.
Sales Representative Primary Job Duties: Identify sales opportunities through new construction and refurbishing of facilities, offices and other projects. Leads are generated through: developing relationships with key specifiers including architects and designers and commercial flooring contractors; DODGE Report System (leads generation system); and new business from current customers.
Provide sales and marketing services in the marketplace including sales calls, supply of marketing materials and support, sales presentations, designer luncheons, etc.
Move carpet through the sales process which includes specification, bidding, and supplying.
Maintain status and service on job bids and current specifications in order to secure projects that are in process.
Establish key relationships and networking opportunities through customer service activities and through participation in trade and community organizations.
Learn and recognize sales opportunities within the territory.
Requirements
Minimum 3+ years in an outside sales position in carpet and/or floorcoverings industry i.e. interior design, carpet dealer, etc.)
BS or BA degree preferred.
Proficient with basic computer programs and applications.
Valid drivers license and insurance coverage.
Ability to travel within territory geography including minimal overnight stays (when necessary).
Candidates must provide credit histories and are subject to drug testing.
