Company Overview: Real Mex Foods is a unique distribution company focused on broad line distribution to Hispanic restaurants and middle distributors. The company’s uniqueness is that it offers all the following strengths with a focus on Hispanic category:

We operate two distribution centers totaling 125,000 square feet along with the manufacturing plant in California. The Company's primary distribution system covers all of California, Arizona, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest. The company has grown at an average of over 30% annually for last seven years. The typical distribution accounts are Hispanic chains with 8-75 restaurants that can benefit from the one-stop shopping that Real Mex Foods can offer them. Currently we distribute directly to less than 10 chains with a range of 8 restaurants to as many as 75. All distribution relationships are long-term contracts with multiple stops per week typically averaging from $2,500-7,500 per stop. The Northern California facility is at less than 40% of capacity creating a huge opportunity for growth.

On the manufacturing side, Real Mex Foods is a large USDA manufacturer specializing in Hispanic food. RMF operates a state-of-the-art USDA manufacturing plant in Vernon, California with over 100,000 square feet of USDA production where we manufacture product for restaurant chains and retail accounts like Acapulco, El Torito , Chevy’s, El Pollo Loco, Baja Fresh, Carl’s Jr, Trader Jo’s and other high visibility companies. RMF employees over 375 employees including 180 in the manufacturing plant.


Responsibilities:

Real Mex Foods is currently seeking a Manager of Sales for the Northern California territory. This position will report directly to the President of the company and be based out of Union City, California. Current sales in the northern California market exceed $40 million and include service to three Hispanic chains and one Italian chain and are managed out of the Buena Park facility. This position will develop the sales and sales team for Northern California to maximize the opportunity in Northern California.

The optimal candidate will have worked within US Foods, Sysco, other distributors, meat companies, or produce companies in that market. The style of business Real Mex Foods engages in is chain business with annual or longer contracts so experience in the multi-unit style of sales is preferred. The ability to work with key decision makers within the restaurant organizations and excel at providing complete solutions is key to this position’s success. This person should be comfortable selling broad-line, center of the plate, and produce.

Will be responsible for:
• Direct sales for Northern California market from Bakersfield to Redding, also capable of servicing Monterey, Tahoe, and Reno and Pacific Northwest from this facility.
• Will develop sales support team including blending in existing customer service department
• Will work with President of company in developing sales and marketing strategy for this market
• Will coordinate with President of company in developing bids and comprehensive packages to provide complete solutions to his or her customers.
• Will coordinate with other departments to insure the successful conversions of key accounts. Those departments include: Warehouse, Transportation, Pricing, Accounts Receivable, and manufacturing division.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in food service industry involving sales and or procurement.
• Broad knowledge of foodservice industry.
• Must be a self starter capable of developing their own leads and sales.
• Strong people skills and excellent communications capability.
• Strong management skills and able to multi-task.
• Proficient with Computer experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT).
• High work ethic.
• Team player who understands how operations and sales work together to accomplish company goals.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Compensation:

The compensation package will be designed around the person’s experience, qualifications, and existing sales they could immediately bring on board. The position is a ground up position and compensation is only one aspect. The opportunity for growth into a General Manager for Nothern California exists giving the position the opportunity to enter into senior management for Real Mex Foods. Excellent benefits and car allowance as well.
