Koch Nitrogen Company and its affiliates own and invest in nitrogen fertilizer production and storage capacity in North America, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The company's fertilizer interests manufacture, market and distribute more than 6 million metric tons of nitrogen products annually. Koch Nitrogen Company owns and operates facilities in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska which produce anhydrous ammonia, UAN and urea. These plants provide fertilizer to customers in Oklahoma, Kansas and the Midwest. Combined, Koch Nitrogen's fertilizer interests can produce about 6 million metric tons of nitrogen fertilizer annually.

As the Safety Leader you will be part of the leadership team at the Koch Nitrogen Company fertilizer manufacturing complex in Beatrice, NE. This plant manufactures nitrogen based fertilizers including Ammonia, urea, and Urea Ammonium Nitrate. In the role of Safety Leader, you will be responsible for continuous improvement of the Health & Safety compliance programs and initiatives. The specifics of these responsibilities include:
• Provide expertise in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of risks to health and safety of plant personnel, contractors and the community
• Compliance with all health and safety standards, including federal and state regulatory compliance and provide interpretation and guidance of these standards
• Primary plant contact for regulatory agencies and will act as a contact for outside service providers
• Maintain and communicate appropriate measures (leading and lagging) of Health & Safety performance
• Proactively assessing health and safety trends and best practices
• Incorporate plant personnel into the Health and Safety knowledge and improvement process
• Working directly with plant operations and maintenance personnel in their work environment
• Contribute to the cross-site safety leadership team leveraging improvement across plants. This will include sharing learning, developing training, improving procedures and proactively keeping up to date on emerging issues.
• Work as a team member on other cross-site teams bringing to the team the Health and Safety prospective and knowledge
• Site leadership team member developing and executing strategic and tactical direction for the facility


• 5+ years of industry experience within a petro-chemical, chemical or other similar industry in the areas of Health & Safety and Process Safety Management 
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to industrial facilities 
• In depth knowledge and application of OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety management regulation 
• Experience in successfully managing compliance programs 
• Demonstrated ability to influence by example and the ability to work with all levels of the organization 
• Ability to work with operations and maintenance personnel in their work environment 
• Excellent skills in oral and written communication, leadership, problem solving and teamwork 
• Writing procedures and training personnel 
• Emergency response plan optimization and training 
• Ability to support the needs of a manufacturing facility that operates 24 hours per day 7 days a week 
• Ability to access ladders and stairs at heights exceeding 100’ 
• Available for weekend work and travel up to 10% (including air travel) 
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Engineering (safety related field), Occupation Health Science, or equivalent 
• CSP certification (preferred)
