Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assessment & Intervention
Incorporates initial and ongoing assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Integrates safety and protection for patients/residents and staff when implementing policies and procedures and using equipment.
Communication, Relationships, & FMH/DC Standards
Communicates with patients/residents & families, team members, and management in an accurate, timely manner. Reports pertinent, concise information, accomplishes complete, timely charting, and effectively uses the electronic medical record system. Protects confidentiality of patients/residents and colleagues. Actively seeks out and accepts feedback.
Develops and maintains human care relationships: Integrates the influence of the individual's human experience of health, illness, & healing into the nursing care plan. Advocates for needs of clients, provides care in an ethical and legal manner, and refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources.
Meets FMH/DC standards related to: Telephone etiquette, customer service, dress code, attendance, punctuality, comportment, inter/intra departmental commitment to co-workers, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient/resident/provider rights. Completes time sheets in an accurate, timely manner.

Interacts with others in a professional manner, manages conflict, and practices commitment to co-workers. Delegates and assigns care. Coordinates patient/resident care within a multi-disciplinary team approach. Directs concerns of clinical practice and/or operations through appropriate channels. Actively participates in the education and orientation of hospital personnel.
Incorporates teaching in the delivery of care with a focus on health promotion. Teaches patient(s)/resident(s) self care skills in relation to illness and disease. Implements teaching techniques to address identified learning barriers. Uses hospital educational materials and colleagues as a learning resource. Counsels about health behaviors. Supports the Preceptor Program.
Knowledge integration skills
Integrates age specific care and knowledge of expected norms (i.e. - VS, lab values,assessment, etc) in planning patient/resident care. Integrates new data into plan of care.Integrates technical, psychological, social, intellectual, and physical skills in the delivery of care.
Demonstrates unit specific skills
Qualifications:
Must possess a current valid Alaska RN license with a current BLS certification. Behavior and answers to role related questions demonstrate experience and preparation for the role. Must meet general RN and unit specific competency requirements within established timeframes.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
