JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse Leader has 24-hour responsibility for effective implementation of facility and departmental philosophy, goals, policies, and monitoring their effect on patient care in a designated unit. The Clinical Nurse Leader has authority to make decisions on his/her respective unit regarding patient care.
ESSENTAIL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Assists DON in development, implementation and evaluation of on-going service programs that assure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with facility mission.
2. Monitors/maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and facility policy for patient services and environmental and personnel safety.
3. Oversees unit QI program which monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care
4. Maintains current licensure and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on unit. Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
5. Accurately identifies re/potential problems affecting service and implements solutions with follow-through and communication.
6. Consults with patients/families through primary nurse request, direct family request and/or direct assessment of patient/family response to care while in facility. Assesses patient/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services
7. Responsible for on-going development of staff and unit specific patient care programs.
8. Responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources
9. Responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality service in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
10. Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations.
11. Responsible for fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources
12. Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff
13. Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission.
14. Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance. Supports facility mission and values, the philosophy, objectives and goals of department and assesses areas of personal and professional growth.
15. Supports and promotes excellence in customer service.
16. Supports and promotes Infection Control Program.
17. Supports and promotes Safety Program.
18. Supports and promotes Risk Management Program.
Qualifications
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
2. Minimum of two years clinical practice ( five years preferred) with experience in the specific field. One year previous nursing management experience
3. Current Oklahoma RN License
4. Current Basic Life Support Certification
5. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 12 months of hire
6. Demonstrated Clinical Competence in relevant area of nursing
7. Demonstrated leadership ability and potential managerial competency.
