Deloitte Consulting's Retirement actuaries assist in designing and evaluating employee benefit programs for a wide range of clients, with an emphasis on pension and post-retirement medical and insurance plans. Our senior consultants work with client teams to determine the adequacy, funding requirements, and financial impact of these plans, and ensure compliance with government regulations and financial accounting standards.

A representative sample of a Senior Consultant's job responsibilities and qualifications are provided below:

Responsibilities:
· Perform actuarial valuations in accordance with IRS regulations and SFAS Nos. 87, 106 & 132
· Review data and asset reconciliations, individual sample cases, and liability results
· Prepare preliminary results and reports for funding and financial accounting purposes
· Calculate PBGC annual premiums
· Prepare and timely deliver government form filings
· Assist in non-discrimination testing for qualified pension plans
· Lead and/or participate in employee benefits and retirement consulting projects
· Exposure to clients on a regular basis
· Effectively manage clients, projects, and team members to meet client expectations
· Act as a mentor and role model for consultants and associates and assist with or provide leadership
· Assist in new business developments by working with Managers and Partners
· Participate in Total Rewards engagements outside of the Retirement practice that will broaden overall human resources knowledge
· Participate in Total Rewards practice development initiatives

Preferred Qualifications of the ideal candidate include:
· 4 years of relevant industry or consulting experience
· Understand design, funding methods, financing, communication and administration of retirement plans
· Understand client business issues
· Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients
· Ability to work well with other team members, and to provide leadership
· Demonstrate ability to develop relationships within/outside of the Retirement practice
· Experience in sales and business development activities
· Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance or Math
Required Skills of the ideal candidate:
· Undergraduate degree
· Willingness to travel at least 10%
· 4 years of retirement actuary experience
· Successfully passed 2 actuarial exams
· Perform actuarial valuations- Perform data reconciliations
