ASSISTANT MANAGER (AM)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITY:
Responsible for assisting in the management of operation of a Souper Salad restaurant, ensuring quality standards, service standards, financial performance and people development are achieved while observing the highest legal and ethical standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises dining area to ensure the greeting of each guest, highest quality of service and unbeatable guest satisfaction.
2. Supervises and directs operations during a specified shift, ensuring food quality and crew performance meets Souper Salad standards.
3. Manages food and labor costs, setting par levels, staffing levels and making adjustments as necessary.
4. Trains or monitors the training of crew members, providing guidance and feedback to ensure a positive and successful training experience consistent with HR policy.
5. Constantly inspects the restaurant for cleanliness, food quality, service delivery and safety procedures.
6. Orders and receives food and supplies, ensuring top quality and correct quantities and prices.
7. Reviews daily reports, monthly financial statements and other standard reports with the general manager to identify and correct unfavorable areas.
8. Interviews, hires and ensures quality orientation and training for crew members consistent with HR Policy.
9. Reviews performance, counsels and recommends the termination of the employment of unsatisfactory performers as necessary consistent with HR policy.
10. Devises and implements ways to attract new hourly employees and keep turnover to a minimum.
11. Completes administrative reports as necessary.
12. Enforces established cash-handling procedures, making sure to take care of all funds and bank deposits.
13. Assists with any station in the restaurants as needed.
14. Responds to guest complaints in a diplomatic and professional manner.
15. Communicates and enforces HR Souper Salad policies and procedures consistently.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. 2 year college degree preferred.
2. Minimum of one (01) year experience working in a full service restaurant preferred.
3. Proficient in the following dimensions of management methods: HR Planning, Communication, Mentoring & Development, Quality of Operations, Leadership.
4. Upon completion of training, must be validated on all positions in restaurant.
5. Extensive interaction with the public and all levels of employees both within and outside of the organization.
6. Must be able to supervise 10-15 employees each shift.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (duration of the shift).
2. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. continuously.
3. Must have good manual dexterity.
4. Able to communicate clearly and persuasively in English and be able to read and comprehend materials printed in English.
Additional Job Related Requirements
Must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively in English and be able to read and comprehend materials printed in English and write detailed reports in English.
Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers’ license, necessary to make daily cash deposits, procure needed restaurant supplies and in case of emergencies, assist staff in obtaining minor medical attention.
Consistent with the level of responsibility of the position of General Manager must successfully complete a TRAK1 background check (Criminal, Motor Vehicle and Credit) prior to employment or promotion and must give notice of any changes to their criminal, motor vehicle or credit record, while employed as a condition of continued employment.
