We are seeking a Resource Specialist to facilitate the assignment of assurance and tax staff to engagement roles for our San Francisco and Santa Rosa offices.  This position can be located in either office.

As a professional services firm, our client service professionals work on different engagement teams and for various clients throughout the year. The Resource Specialist will evaluate client needs and manage the assignment of appropriate staff to engagement roles based on a number of factors including: providing development opportunities to staff, delivering superior client service, optimizing staff utilization, resolving staffing conflicts.

Responsibilities:
Position will have responsibility for resource management in two locations and can be based in either Santa Rosa or San Francisco.  Initially the incumbent will spend time in each location.

Make staffing assignments based on staff availability and engagement staffing requirements Facilitate periodic scheduling meetings with engagement managers In cases of conflict, develop solutions based on utilization, skill assessment and career development; escalate when necessary Work with other Practice Offices to maximize staff utilization and ensure best practitioners are positioned for each opportunity Understand the skill sets and career goals of client service staff, and relate those to specific staffing needs and to career development opportunites Assist career coaches in ensuring that practitioners are afforded appropriate exposure, leadership and development opportunities Monitor unassigned resources and assist in proactively identifying assignments Be creative in identifying resources by proactively investigating engagements that may be able to shift time, releasing staff early or creating individual availability in order to meet staffing priorities for the office Proactively identify and address scheduling issues such as excessively high/low charge hours or morale issues Act as a change agent for the scheduling process and continually recommend process improvements

Our San Francisco office provides assurance, tax and advisory services to enterprises and individuals.  We serve multiple industries including Financial Services, Real Estate/Construction, Healthcare, Technology, Manufacturing & Distribution and Not-for-Profit.  Our Santa Rosa office is an hour to the north of San Francisco.  From that location, we provide assurance, tax and consulting services to the Wine & Agriculture industries, Manufacturing & Distribution, Construction and Technology.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university 3 years experience in the Resource Management or Scheduling function within a public accounting or management consulting firm OR 3 years experience in a client service role within a large public accounting firm Proactive, responsive individual with superior project management skills and strong attention to detail Ability to communicate and negotiate comfortably with management and staff, and assist in conflict management Ability to calmly manage multiple and conflicting time-sensitive priorities, in a fast-paced environment Creative and persistent problem solver Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and prioritization skills Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information Ability to organize, evaluate and assess data, then make appropriate recommendations is essential Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and an aptitude for managing and navigating various database programs Professional appearance in accordance with business casual dress code
