SALARY GRADE: State Grade 25

NEGOTIATING UNIT:

Professional, Scientific & Technical/05

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics or related field AND four Years of professional research experience in health care analysis. A Master’s degree in statistics, epidemiology or related field may substitute for one year of such experience, or a Doctorate in statistics, epidemiology or related field may substitute for three years of such experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong analytical and project management skills. Experience with conducting research using large databases. Experience in using SAS, Excel and other statistical software. Able to make presentations of findings, prepare manuscripts and write reports. Strong writing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Research Scientist 3 in the Division of Quality and Evaluation in the Medicaid Encounter Data Unit will oversee lower level research staff, assist in preparing health services statistics and conduct focused studies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Permanent, non-competitive, full-time.
