Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, the Research Engineer coordinates research studies from the initial design phase to publication of the results. Performs scientific investigative research in orthopaedic biomechanics and image processing (CT and MRI) Researches literature in the field, participates in the design of experimental protocols and develops new procedures to carry out established research objectives. Conducts computational analysis using programming tools, modeling and image analysis; collects and analyzes data using statistical methodology. Assists in preparing presentations, publications, and grant proposals. The Research Engineer assists with ongoing Orthopedic Research projects, computer programming and data analysis. Requirements: Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Physics. Master?s degree in Engineering or Physics preferred. EXPERIENCE: Research experience in orthopedic biomechanics and imaging studies. Computer skills including programming, statistics, research methodology and data acquisition are also necessary. One to two year?s experience in Orthopedic or related imaging studies. Previous experience with digital analysis of medical image processing including CT Scans, MRI?s, and Fluoroscopy. Experience with programming and maintenance of Windows, UNIX and/or other workstations. Proficiency with Matlab, C & C ++ programming, and imaging analysis software. Familiar with CT, u-CT and MRI imaging.
