We currently have an opportunity for a detail oriented Research and Development (R&D) Chemist in our Putnam, CT facility. In this role you will be responsible for preparing laboratory flat sheet media samples via lab sample apparatus, evaluation of experimental media utilizing test instruments and process simulations procedures.

Additional Responsibilities include:

Conducting analytical chemical tests, and using optical and electron microscope for observations.

Execution of established laboratory procedures to prepare fiber slurries and additives.

Maintaining a lab notebook in accordance with company standards to record results and observations, including observed irregularities or unusual behavior, which may lead to developing new technologies.

Reporting results of testing, drawing conclusions, and providing recommendations in written reports (i.e., tables, graphs and slide format) using MS Office Suite.

Assisting in the maintenance of lab, test and process simulation equipment, additive supplies.

Evaluation of resulting experimental media with a variety of test instruments and process simulations procedures.

Conducts all activities in accordance with Site safety requirements, and practice.

Qualifications:

To qualify, candidate's must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, material science or a related field and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a chemical, industrial laboratory, or relevant setting. Requires a thorough understanding of established lab procedures and the ability to execute these procedures to prepare fiber slurries and additives. Additionally, an understanding of chemistry and the properties of natural, ceramic and synthetic fibers, and additive systems used to provide specified properties to non-woven composite media is required. Knowledge of the properties and performance of materials used in non-woven composite web media for industrial and filtration applications is a strong plus. Requires excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is also required.
